Supporting sentences:

1. When you paint it, you can go wild with the colors.

Friends can work together on planning and building the birdhouse.

2. Once we had to run in the rain!

She blows the whistle really loudly.

We have to run lots and lots of laps.

Explanation:

The topic sentence is the sentence that summarizes the information in the paragraph. It's usually the first sentence of the paragraph.

Supporting sentences contain details about what is stated in the topic sentence.

We can divide the given sentences into two groups (or paragraphs). One group tells about the process of building a birdhouse, and the other about a strict PE teacher. Both of these paragraphs have to have their topic sentence, so there are two topic sentences:

The rest of the sentences are supporting.

the difference between an explicit and implicit meaning is that the explicit meaning of a poem is that the detail is exactly defined. nothing is left to interpretation. an implicit meaning is an implied meaning. kabir's poetry is both explicit and implicit in that it can be interpreted on different levels. the explicit meaning leaves nothing to interpretation while the implicit meaning leaves lots open to interpretation. an example of this is found in the poem "rumi and the spiritual lover".
