In order to come to the aid of King Hrothgar and his people who are being attacked by the monster Grendel.

3. Why does Hrothgar’s watchman express mixed feelings about Beowulf and his men?
Hrothgar’s watchman expressed mixed feelings about Beowulf and his men because of the armor that they are wearing.
