In this unit, you learned about social and personal changes from reading informational texts. You also discussed the topic of change in a group setting. Imagine a social or personal change that hasn't happened yet, but you would like to see the change happen in the future. The change can be something that you want to happen in your life or that you'd like to see happen in society. Discuss with others why you think the change is interesting or necessary and what role you see yourself playing. Is it a change that you think you could actively pursue, or do you think you would be more of a bystander? Additionally, discuss changes that others might want to see occur and how those changes are different or similar to your own ideas.

By the use of reading self-help texts, I'd like to become more emotionally intelligent. This for me is a personal change.

It has been proven that emotional intelligence is very crucial for success in career, family, relationships, and life in general.

Highly emotionally intelligent people are very indispensable at higher levels of leadership.

My mentor says that learning to change my habits and respond to situations takes a great deal of work. From reading self-help books, I'll recognize the patterns that need to change.

During the process of change, my mind will go through the process of failing and then recalling new habits. The more I work on the new habits, the easier and more natural they come to me.

After a while of the consistent and intentional practice of learned principles, I'll finally get there.

Because increasing my emotional intelligence improves my chances at work and in relationships, I strongly believe that it is worth committing to actively.

Some of my friends are looking to learn more about managing their finances, others are looking to understand how to help their special needs kids achieve their highest selves. Two of my friends are at the brink of a divorce and they are working to see how they can resolve their differences amicably.

All in all, change always seems very hard at first. Starting small and making incremental progress consistently is one way to hack it.

Let's imagine a social change that humans have long hoped for, which is an end to violence in our society. It would be interesting in such a society, to live without feeling afraid because of the threat of been attacked by another fellow human.
