considering it says it will be used to show colleges, you should probably go for something that will stand out. option 2 and 5 seem the most eyecatching. for 2, just think about some sort of issue you've faced in life, how it affected you, and what you learned from it. like your biggest life lesson. for 5, talk about the time you did something that made you really proud of yourself. knowing that the essay is important and others will be reading it is something that has always given me the motivation to really try and make it stand out.

are you kidding? from that description of two mansions, you can't figure out which one is bleak and desolate? maybe you should consider looking those words up in a dictionary, if you don't know what they mean already.
