Select the statement that best describes how the passages convey similar information about the Seneca Falls Convention
Passene A:
One of the most important events along the path to equal rights for
American women was the Seneca Falls Convention. The conference, a
large meeting of women interested in expanding women's rights, took
place in Seneca Falls, New York, in the summer of 1848. At the time,
women were not allowed to inherit property, serve on a jury, or vote,
and many women believed that these restrictions needed to change.
So women gathered and listened to presentations and arguments by
famous speakers like Lucretia Mott and Elizabeth Cady Stanton. At the
end of the conference, more than 100 attendees signed a petition
urging the United States to grant women the right to vote.
Passage B:
Seneca Falls had always been a quiet town, and Betty had always been
a quiet girl. But not this weekend. As Betty watched, fascinated, groups
of women marched all over town, in and out of lecture halls and tea
houses, talking, always talking – sometimes smiling and laughing, but
mostly arguing seriously over women's work, women's lives, and
women's rights. Peering around corners, Betty listened, eyes wide,
thinking for the first time about her own life and what it might hold.
Yes, she loved Pa, and she was sure she would love her husband
someday, but did she really want them to decide everything for her?
A. Both passages demonstrate an unbiased approach that conveys
two sides of the issue.
B. Both passages help the reader understand the reasons that
women were trying to expand their rights.
C. Both passages emphasize the importance of women's right to
vote.
D. Both passages show that the women's rights were an especially
important issue for the younger generation.
