SOMEONE HELP ME QUICKLY: (FIRST ANSWER GETS BRAINLIEST) In the 18 stanzas of his lyrical narrative poem, “The Raven,” Edgar Allen Poe tells the story of a man whose evening is interrupted by the sounds of a raven. The poem tells about the thoughts and feelings and memories the man experiences while visited by that raven.

In this short writing assignment, you will summarize the poem, put it in your own words, and write it in prose (not poetry).

Reread the poem, and take notes about the main thing that happens in each stanza. Here are notes and a summary of Stanza 1 to get you started.

Stanza 1

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary,

Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore—

While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,

As of someone gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door—

‘Tis some visitor,” I muttered, “Tapping at my chamber door—

Only this and nothing more.”

Stanza 1 Notes

late at night

reading and studying

nearly asleep, near a tapping noise

I thought it might be a person visiting.
Sample Summary of Stanza 1

One late evening I was studying and nearly nodded off while reading. I heard a tapping noise and my door and said to myself that I must have a visitor.

Now you try it. Take notes over each stanza to make sure you are getting the important details. Add to the summary by rewriting the main ideas in your own words. Keep the first person point of view.

Complete your assignment in a separate document and submit it when you are finished.

For instructions on how to submit your project, please refer to the Student Resources section of this course.
