Lisa was anxious to seem smart and cool in her new book club. Someone asked how she liked Racer Man, the first book in a popular new science fiction series that she had devoured in a week. "It was stupid," she said quickly. "I got through it in a day. I know it was really popular, but I thought it was immature and unsophisticated. And the next four books in the series, too!" Uh oh. Lisa was suddenly embarrassed, realizing, that she had just admitted that she liked Racer Man well enough to read the next four books. So much for seeming cool, she thought.
