The text "The American Criminal Justice System" shows how black offenders are more likely to be convicted in their trials than white offenders, even if black offenders have committed lighter crimes with less social impact. These people, regardless of the gravity of their actions, are always seen as marginal and are criminalized to the maximum, when white offenders have their crimes justified and often absolved, without merit.

"The Race Factor in Trying Juveniles as Adults," on the other hand, addresses how society loses mercy towards young offenders, when a young black man is portrayed as a justification for children and adolescents to receive judgments and sentences equal to adults. This is because, as we know, adolescents and adults have a different personality and cognition composition, which justifies that adolescents and children receive milder judgments and sentences. However, society only seems to agree with this in cases of crimes committed by young whites. In situations where a young black man is indicted, people lose their mercy and demand that that young man should receive treatment, judgment and punishment as if he were an adult.
