ohn Smith and William Bradford were two extremely different people who both established colonies in the new world. However, both men were similar in certain aspects. They were similar in their faith, biases, and position. They were different in their personality, treatment of others, and purpose. One thing that Smith and Bradford had in common was their unyielding faith. Bradford was a puritan; his entire purpose for coming to the Americas was religious. He wrote “and the wind shrinking upon them withal, they resolved to bear up again for the cape and thought themselves happy to get out of those dangers before night overtook them, as by God’s providence they did."Throughout his perilous journey to the new world, whenever something bad happened it was a reasonless and unmotivated, but any good fortune was caused by God’s divinity.
