Sometimes, California condors cannot care for their young. Zoos help out these endangered birds. They step in to care for the chicks. Zookeepers put their hands in puppets that look like adult condors. The puppets act like the chicks' parents. They feed the chicks. They clean the chicks. They even play with the chicks.
