I was aroused from sleep. The night was very dark and quite. I felt there was something in my room. I tried to turn on the light but to my horror, my hand continued to hit open air where my light switch had been just a few hours ago. I sat up, feeling the cold air against my body, and let my eyes adjust to the dim of the room. Or was it a room? I felt a falling sensation in my chest as I realized why I couldn’t feel the light switch or my wall. Nothing. I was floating, too scared to look down away from the faint light of the waning moon as I was slowest carried through the sky to an unknown destination. I tried to to panic, I tried to hide under my bed covers and pretend I was still at safe home, but every time I dared peek out again, I was soaring farther away from anything recognizable. “No.” I breathed, “NO,” I screamed as the terror set in. I could do nothing but watch as the island grew nearer. My mother had told us stories of Neverland when we were younger; of a place where every child could go, and never grow old in death, as they’d never gotten their chance in life. It was a story, though, just a take from an old story book. That’s what I repeated internally, even as the shadows of young children danced across the sandy shore. I wish I stayed asleep. (Don’t know if this is long enough and it will need some editing but yeah)
