Whether it's pizza, cereal, hamburgers, salad, or spaghetti, everyone loves food! However, buying food from a store can strain the environment, so it's important to try to minimize the damage. First of all, food has to be transported by truck to grocery stores or local markets. The farther food needs to travel, the more harmful toxins are released into the atmosphere. Furthermore, people also need to travel in a vehicle to do their grocery shopping, which also adds pollutants to the atmosphere. All of this transportation requires fossil fuels, and it emits greenhouse gases, like carbon dioxide, into the air. To think green and help reduce harmful pollutants, there are things people can do. For example, people can plant a garden with fruits and vegetables. By growing a garden, people can reduce the emissions of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere because the food will be in their own backyard. No travel would be required to get delicious fruits and veggies from a store. Another benefit of planting a garden is that adding plants to Earth offsets the amount of carbon dioxide emitted. This is because plants consume carbon dioxide. Luckily, planting a garden is a way to enjoy fresh foods, decrease the amount of carbon emitted into the atmosphere, and make our planet a healthier place. One of the author's points is that growing a garden can reduce the negative effects on the environment. How does the author use reasons and evidence to support the point? Use complete sentences and evidence to support your answer.
