And while they were on the way to West Egg village, Gatsby abruptly asked him what he thought of him. His question of "What's your opinion of me?" took Nick by surprise, leaving him "overwhelmed". And though Nick has been curious about his neighbor, he did not expect the question from him. And it is through this question that led Gatsby to reveal himself and give us an image of his personality.
