Explain the different moon phases.

the phases of moon are depend upon the angle of the moon by the help of sunlight which we see from the earth as the moon revolves around the earth and when sunlight ray comes from the right and due to moon revolution around earth we see many phases . the phases are new moon,full moon,first quarter ,third quarter, waxing crescent,waxing gibbous,waning gibbous,wanning crescent.

Explanation:

the new moon occurs when the moon is between sun and moon as the moon is between we cannot see the half portion which is faced towards the sun

the full moon occurs when the sun ,moon and earth are not in proper alignment as the moon is opposite side of the earth we can see full moon

the first quarter and third quarter occurs when the moon is at 90 degree angle with respect to sun and earth

the waxing crescent occurs when the sunlit portion increases but less than half it would be waxing crescent

the waxing gibbous occurs when the sunlit portion increases but more than half it would be waxing crescent

the waning crescent occurs when the light is decreasing and forming new moon

the waning gibbous occurs after the full moon when light will decrease
