Antigone's two brothers Eteocles and Polyneices had fought and killed each other. He had also decreed that whoever dares to busy him properly must also be put to death. Antigone had chosen to bury his brother's dad body, for she values family ties and duties more than she respects the law of the land. So, when the king learned what she had done, she was killed. Her death causes us, the readers and audiences, to feel a sense of animosity toward the king, Creon.
