But the state of Hawaii has only two ferry services between islands, and neither of them goes to the busiest island, Oahu, or the big island, Hawaii. People who fly there and want to visit another island usually have to keep flying. The only other option is to take costly private boats or cruise ships that stop for just one day in each port. An inter-island ferry system would offer travelers much more flexibility and would encourage tourists on the most popular islands to visit some of the others. It seems a particularly strong need in a state that consists of an archipelago of islands.
