Read an excerpt from the essay "Being a Man," by Paul Theroux, from line 1 on page 567 of your textbook to line 28 on
page 568. Use all of the tools we have discussed, such as the rhetorical triangle, S. O.A. P.S., and annotation, and go
through lines 1-28 identifying the diction, style, and syntax that indicate Theroux's tone. Then, write several paragraphs
in a well-rounded analytical response to the passage, avoiding personal bias and opinion. Look for the diction and the
shifts in tone and come to a conclusion at the end of the response. Your response should be no less than four hundred
words.
