Best of Two Worlds

Birds on a telephone wire
make the best of two worlds.
Sated with food from nature's feast
they rest after dinner.
And, unaware of the human talk
flowing silently beneath their feet,
They drowsily discuss where
they will dine tomorrow.

—Elizabeth Loeks Bouman
