The Spanish Flu of 1918 to this day is deemed as one of the most devastating and fatal pandemic in world history as it caused more than 50 million people to die. After the global population was relieved of the devastation of this pandemic, and it’s lasting effects that made a semi-permanent imprint on the way in which societies went about their lives of this pandemic, societies hoped an experience such as this one would never curse human society again. The CoronaVirus is one of the most devastating Pandemics in our time at the moment as it has caused more than 238,730 people to die all around the world.

The Coronavirus can cause people to have symptoms that include coughing, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fever, chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headaches, sore throat, and a new loss of taste and smell. The Spanish Flu of 1918 can cause people to have symptoms that include Headaches, tiredness, dry, hacking cough, stomach problems, a loss of appetite, pneumonia, and respiratory complications. The Coronavirus is thought to have been spread to others in many ways including close contact with other people within about 6 feet, another way was by a person touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching their own mouth, nose, or possibly their eyes. The Spanish Flu of 1918 was spread by army men bringing the undetected virus that made them ill back home to their countries. The Similarities between these two pandemics are Some of the symptoms that they had which were Headaches, and coughing. The difference between these two pandemics are the way the viruses spread.

The coronavirus is believed to have started from people eating bats in a market in Wuhan, China. At the moment there is no cure for the coronavirus, So if someone is infected with the coronavirus they are told many instruction that include getting rest, staying hydrated, take over-the-counter medicine such as acetaminophen, and most of all to stay isolated in a specific room for 14 days away from other people in your home. In 1918, there was no medicine or cure that treated the spanish flu. Officials in some communities imposed quarantines, ordering citizens to wear masks and they also shut down public places including schools, churches, and theaters. People were also advised to avoid shaking hands and to stay indoors. The similarities between the two viruses include being quarantined, wearing masks, and the shutdown of public places. The differences between the two include the spanish flu of 1918 only advising people to stay indoors whereas with the coronavirus people are forced to stay indoors unless it's for essential items.

In Conclusion, while there are many distinctive differences in which these two pandemics came about, their effects on society; there are many striking similarities between the two pandemics despite the massive gap in time when they happened.
