I think what Kielburger is trying to say is that, He and so many more has met individuals who is gifted by providing materials and products for those who desperately needs  it for example, when he says, 'so that children do not have to die' "Gifted people provided food and shelter and water, for those children giving them safety and reassurance." The effect of his words on the reader can give the reader courage to help more children in need and/or give me reassurance that there are people out there helping the word. I think it helps the author achieve his purpose because he is voice his opinion, his experience and what other people are doing.
