What is a music type or culture that interests you? Is it Korean court music, Taiko drumming from Japan, Brazilian dance/drum, Mongolian throat singing…. This list could go on because, for every culture, there is music. Maybe the instruments are different but each uses a drum, string instrument, and voice.

This assignment is not about pop music. Kpop, Jpop, etc.. will receive a zero. This is a chance to learn and do a little research. Answer the following questions and attach as a google doc. You must press submit when you are done or it doesn’t show as ready to grade.

Respond to the following:
1. Name the country
2. Explain the types of music which are most common in that country (not pop)
3. Look up this music and describe the types of instruments used in that country
4. Describe the sound of the music. How does it sound to you?
5. Do you like the music? Why or why not?
6. Include a link to a video clip of music-making from that country
7. How old is the music style
8. What kinds of events would this music be played
Some of you are giving bare minimum answers. This is a fun assignment so research and give details to your writing. You can list out the questions but this should be toward a full page.

Read the following excerpt from patrick henry's march 23, 1775, speech: if we wish to be free-if we mean to preserve inviolate those inestimable privileges for which we have been so long contending-if we mean not basely to abandon the noble struggle in which we have been so long engaged, and which we have pledged ourselves never to abandon, until the glorious object of our contest shall be obtained- we must fight! which statement best explains how patrick henry uses parallelism in the passage to influence the audience? a. henry carefully lists the principles that all the colonists follow, principles that their british rulers do not share. b. the repetition of the word "fight" is meant to stir up the listeners' violent hatred of the british. ) c. by constantly referring to "we," henry makes it obvious that both he and the audience must sue for peace together. o d. repeating the words "if we" emphasizes the number of values that henry and the audience have in common.
