I would opt out of a planed road trip upon learning of an impending snow storm as this could lead to accidents  unplanned for.

We are unable to predict how storms may behave or how much damage they may cause. It is also dangerous to get stranded in a snow storm as power and phone lines may be down with little or no hope of rescue. It is therefore better to safe than sorry,best to let the storm pass while in the safety of our homes or completely reschedule the road trip for another day.
