he stayed in the cementry for hours unend

quietly waiting for his next victim to appear

the cool breeze blew back his old briefcase

as he collected the last bone that belonged to the gardener

before he heard a little girl's laugh

Each drop an island within an ocean of blackness and silence as I wait for the rain to subside.

The drops are crisp.

Staccato.

A whispered name.

I turn and I see...

I see...

...the noise isn't coming from the rain.
