Pilot’s Luck Is a Perfect 10!
Mary McCormick
1 If you are one of the few people who have not gotten to the theater to see Pilot’s Luck, the new film directed by Howard Burt, you are missing out. This is one of summer’s finest movies. Last year’s Bitter Night was a fine feature film, but Pilot’s Luck is better in every respect. With this film, Burt has outdone himself.

2 The story begins with pilot Vivian Tuesday getting ready for her next flight. Before she boards her aircraft, she checks to make sure she has the photograph she carries in her travel bag at all times. She finds that the image is missing from its usual side pocket in her bag and wonders where she might have misplaced it. Convinced that she must find the beloved photograph before her next flight, Vivian goes on an exploration of the previous few days. Though the lucky image makes several appearances through the film, the location of the real photograph is not revealed until the end of the movie.

3 In an interview to promote the movie, Sarah Brown, the actress who plays Vivian, shares her idea of the film. It is equal parts science fiction and glossy action flick. “People have been lining up at theaters all over the United States to see this film about a woman and her lucky charm,” the actress explains. “I truly believe that this film gives an important message to audiences. If you are at all interested in making the world a better place, you must go see this movie!”

4 It seems that audiences agree with Brown as movie goers have packed theaters for more than two weeks to see the smash hit. The movie’s director, Howard Burt, couldn’t be happier about the reception his film has received. “When you put so much work into something, it’s extremely rewarding to get this type of feedback. I love the movie, and it’s great to know others do, too.”

5 At least one critic thinks that the success of Pilot’s Luck has to do with its inspiration, a thick book by Edward Osaka that hardly sold any copies. Although the book version of Pilot’s Luck had weak sales, the movie is the biggest blockbuster of the summer. Personally, I believe the film’s success relies more on Sarah Brown’s engaging performance than on the fast-moving plot. I would never discourage people from reading a book, but because the central feature of this story is an important image, it only makes sense that the story should be told visually. For this reason, I highly recommend the movie Pilot’s Luck over the book.

6 As in his previous films, Howard Burt leaves a strong impression on audiences. I found myself thinking about Pilot's Luck long after I left the theater. People wander from the theater thinking about the twists and turns. Burt is a master of suspense and an almanac of knowledge. His role in this production is a major factor in its unexpected excellence. If you want to see a film that offers beauty, depth, and a break from typical storylines, run to the next showing of Pilot’s Luck. You will not be disappointed.
