Materials: computer access for research and writing, supplies as determined by you the students as you
work
Research a list of artists associated with the Harlem Renaissance.
Next, select one artist (a musician, a visual artist, or a writer) to focus on.
Research your chosen artist and create a short biography about that person. Your biography should be
two paragraphs (5-7 sentences each paragraph)
Then, create your own original piece of work that mimics or reflects the work of the artist you have
chosen to work with. For example:
If you choose a musician, you will compose a song and upload the song.
If you choose a visual artist, you will create an art piece or find an art piece by the artist and upload it.
If you choose a writer, write a poem or short story. Your poem should be four stanzas long and your
short story should be at least one page.
