Odysseus defeats all of them in a battle, but Penelope does not recognize him and, for that reason, treats him coldly. He reveals who he is but she is still not convinced. To test him, she mentions moving their marital bed from their bedroom. Odysseys then says he built that bed around the trunk of a tree, so the bed cannot be moved. Only then Penelope recognizes and welcomes back her husband.
