1) The man who was chosen to be the club president had given many years of service to the Town of Farmingdale.

2) The invisible ladder is a poetry book that contains the touching selection to Dorothy, a poem about love.

Explanation:

The first word in a sentence is always capitalized. The names of states,  towns, or poems should also be capitalized. The end of a sentence should always contain a type of punctuation. Question 2 contains a comma because when there is a dependent clause after a coordinating conjunctions.
