What does the incident with the shark in Part V reveal about the correspondent’s and captain’s points of view in this passage?

The incident with the shark in part V of the poem "The Open Boat". The dark fin cuts of the shark is surrounded the boat through the water and the  trail of phosphorescence evidently left by the shark as it circles the boat.

Explanation:  

In part 5 of the poem passage, the correspondent is taking his turn of rowing the boat. Himself, oilier, Billie are the three of the four men who can row. The captain got injured and the cook is not well. All of the others where seems to be asleep. This whole situation occurs when the "dark fin" of the boat cuts through the waters around him and the trail of phosphorescence left by the shark as it circles the boat. Sharks are waiting for the opportunity to feed. The poet tells  the story to the third person As for the reflections of the men,there was a great deal of rage in them.I brought here merely to have my nose dragged away as I was about to nibble the sacred cheese of life.
