Read this passage from Part 2 of “The Purloined Letter.”

I was astounded. The Prefect appeared absolutely thunderstricken. For some minutes he remained speechless and motionless, looking incredulously at my friend with open mouth, and eyes that seemed starting from their sockets; then, apparently in some measure, he seized a pen, and after several pauses and vacant stares, finally filled up and signed a check for fifty thousand francs, and handed it across the table to Dupin. The latter examined it carefully and deposited it in his pocket-book; then, unlocking an escritoire, took thence a letter and gave it to the Prefect.

What is the effect of placing the climax of the plot, in which the letter is recovered, in the middle of the text?

Select all that apply.

The Purloined Letter, Part 2

It provides hints that the end of the story will be short and fast-paced.
It shifts the focus of the story from whether the mystery will be solved to how Dupin solved it.
It slows the story down so that readers can focus on the details of what was in the letter.
It increases the suspense by revealing the solution to the mystery without explaining it.
