The motivation of Antigona is her love for her family, which is idealized and put above everything.

The main motivation in the play is her love for her brother, that goes so far that she wants to give him a proper burry, in order to comply with the King’s edict. She thinks that every person in the world deserves a proper leaving for the other world.

Also, if a person is not burried properly, this will bring misfortune to people, as the gods will punish them.
