Ludwig van Beethoven was born in Bonn, Germany. He is known to be the only deaf composer and pianist. Beethoven was taught by his father, Johann van Beethoven, in hopes that he would become a child prodigy like Mozart. In the later years, he was taught by composer and conductor Christian Gotlobb Neefe. He played a crucial role in the transitio between the classic and romantic eras of classical music. Later on, he moved to Vienna to study music with Joseph Haydn. He became famous for his six String Quartets. He was also very famous for the ballet known as The Creatures of Prometheus. He created these famous pieces in the year 1801. In this time, his hearing began to deteriorate. His condition worsened to almost complete deafness in 1811, where he stopped playing in public altogether.
