I would bring a first aid kit because survival in its entirety stems from personal health.  I absolutely must have the means to treat potential injuries if I am to survive in the wilderness.

I would bring a metal pot, as it could be used to prepare food or boil and purify potable water.  

I would bring rope, as it could be used to store food a safe distance from the ground, set snares, traverse difficult terrain, or fasten supports when building shelter.  

I would bring a compass, as rescue is not certain and I may need to navigate toward civilization.
