Abigail drinks a potion to kill Elizabeth Proctor, and she then possibly accuses Elizabeth of witchcraft.
Mrs. Putnam, who has lost many children, grows suspicious of Rebecca Nurse, who has a large family, when Nurse doubts the existence of witchcraft.
Proctor and Putnam get into an argument over land, and Proctor avoids going to church when he can.
