Discrimination paragraph, my own definition and knowledge of what discrimination is

Discrimination refers to treating a specific individual unfairly and different from the others, as a result of them either belonging to a specific group or due to them having certain characteristics.

Explanation:

Discrimination can be carried out in different ways - as a result of age (e.g. certain managerial jobs not open for people, say, under the age of 30), or caste (e.g. certain landlords not renting out their places to people belonging to specific castes).

It can also be due to religion (e.g. not allowing people of a particular religion to enter a designated place of worship), or sex discrimination (e.g. unfair pay scales for women simply due to gender as compared to that of men for the same job), or even during hiring (e.g. men being preferred over women for certain roles, due to the reason that women might be more involved in child-bearing at some point in time).

Some or the other form of discrimination is present in most societies, based on certain stereotypes. It is important to remember that it is illegal to discriminate people, and should be brought to the immediate notice of the authorities, if the need so arises.
