Once you have identified your three main categories (main points), you will need subpoints to support your main points.

For example, if I were giving this speech one of my categories (main points) would be education. As my subpoints, I would list Virginia Tech and Purdue University as my education since these schools represent where I gained my education. In my speech, I would talk about my experience at each these schools. If I were doing an outline, it might look like below.

Main Point 1: My education

Subpoint 1: Virginia Tech

Mascot The Hokie Bird

Received My Bachelor's Degree

Communication, Emphasis in Public Relations

Minor in Business

Subpoint 2: Purdue University

Mascot Purdue Pete

Master's of Science, Organizational Communication

Minor in HR and Organizational Psychology

Taught as Graduate Teach - Public Speaking & Small Group Communication

My three are Education , Interests and Favorite restaurant and snacks
