After you've finished reading, write short answers to the following questions.
1. When we think of the destruction of the world as we know it, we often focus on war
and weapons. According to Weisman, certain forces of nature are far more destructive. What
are some of the natural forces that could destroy New York? After reading the chapter, do you
think they should be considered as destructive as human inventions like guns and bombs? Why
or why not?
