"Africa" is a poem written by David Mandessi Diop (1927-1960), who was born to West-African parents in France. Dio died at the age of 33 in a plane crash.

The poem is a tribute to African culture, land and history. The poet says that although he does not know (much) about Africa, and that there is vast distance between them, but Africa's blood flows in his (poet's blood.

The lines describing this and some next lines are as,

"I have never known you

Your beautiful black blood that irrigates the fields
