heart of a samurai: a 14-yr old japanese fisherman,manjiro, gets lost at sea with a couple of other fishermen.they do what they can on a deserted island until an american whaling ship comes and rescue them.since they couldn't go back to their home country bc of the fear of imprisonment,they went to america.they were on the ship on a while,during that time manjiro and the capt. were rlly hitting it off so when they made it to hawaii,manjiro decided to go w/ the capt. and pretend to be his son in massachusetts.manjiro learned everything he can in elementary so he enrolls into a local navigation academy.later in life,he gets the oppurtunity to save his friends and return to japan.once they get to japan they are imprisoned but when he got out,he went back to his village and family and fulfilled one of his long-termed dream and started working w/japanese and american officials to foster a relationship w/ the west and japan
