the body works in amazing ways like a fine tuned machine. all organ systems within the body depend on one another for survival in some way or form at all times. cherif et al., (2010) state, the body depends on the precise action of each organ to maintain physical, mental, and emotional health of a human being. also, homeostasis, the regulatory of body temperature plays a survival role in maintaining body functions. the integumentary system (skin) is the largest, and the most important part of the body. the skin is just one of the organ systems that will be discussed (thibodeau & patton, 2008). the body is expected to perform specific duties at specific times the organ systems as a whole, the most important organ system the…show more content…

furthermore, the organs within the muscular systems are muscles; their main duties are movement, posture or muscle tone, and heat production. the fourth organ system is the nervous system. there are two main parts to the nervous system, the central nervous system (cns), and the peripheral nervous system (pns); the brain and spinal cord are found in the cns, and cranial nerves and spinal nerves are found in the pns. the main duty of the nervous system is to carry signals to the brain and spinal cord and back out to the spinal and cranial nerves (thibodeau & patton, 2008). the spinal nerves are responsible for transferring signals to the spinal cord, abdomen, limbs, and the chest and the cranial nerves are responsible for transferring signals between the brain, neck and head (lafleur brooks, 2010). the organs found in the nervous system are the brain, spinal cord, and nerves. the fifth organ system is the sense organs. the sense organs are found throughout the body as receptors located in the second layer of skin, known as the dermis. furthermore, the special sense organs are the eyes, ears, nose, and mouth. their main responsibilities are to detect the differences in light or color, smells, sounds, and tastes.
