The reason why Thomas Edison invented the light bulb was because he realized that the conflict with Swan's sketch was the thread, which meant that the thin thread contained high electrical hostility that would be able to make a lamp functional (possible to work) because it only needed contemporary glow/light. Edison had shown his invented light bulb in December 1879 when he first experimented scientific procedure, with that in mind,  he also invented an electrical battery that was very convenient.
