Tomas entered mrs. richards' kindergarten classroom at the beginning of the school year with great excitement! he showed great interest in learning and being in the classroom with other students. as the school year progressed, however, tomas' excitement quickly turned into frustration. he struggled with recognizing the letters in his name, identifying different shapes, and consistently could not follow two-part instructions. he also was dramatically less able than his peers to focus on a task. his frustrations have led to impulsive actions. mrs. richards has called a meeting with his parents to address her concerns.

With the little information regarding Tomas, one could surmise that he is suffers from Specified Learning Disabled or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder given that  Tomas has difficulties with cognitive processing, focusing, and his impulsivity and this is adversely affecting his school performance. In order to make a definitive diagnosis, one must determine what came first in Tomas’s situation because if first he had difficulty focusing he has difficulty with learning or difficulty with learning so therefore he has difficulty with focusing. Or he could be frustrated an off task or unfocused because he is unable to comprehend and process the information or he could be frustrated because he is too inattentive to process the information. He should see professional doctors to determine which course to go, alongside his parents, of course.
