this is an excellent exercise for teaching you how to identify and correct major sentence level
errors. we invite you to work on this on your own and/or with a writing center tutor. the
answers are on the back. consult a tutor or supervisor to you identify and correct these
errors here and in your own writing.
number a separate sheet of paper from 1-22. then, for each sentence, write f (fragment), cs
(comma splice), ro (run-on) or ok (the sentence is correct) next to the corresponding number.
finally, using a variety of revising strategies, rewrite the passage to correct the problems you
have identified.
(1) it is very important to proofread your papers carefully. (2) especially when you know
you have problems with sentence boundaries. (3) there are several strategies you can use to find
errors you just have to give yourself time. (4) your papers will be much more presentable. (5)
when you take the time to proofread.
