this is true today because people continue to value materialistic goods and their cost rather than the value that each item entails. like, when he says value, he is referring to a currency that is deeper and more important than money.

1.creeping like a snail is a simile used in this poem and it means the child is going to school unwillingly./a child is unwilling to go to school.
