Do you sympathize with the murder in the story, “lamb to the slaughter”? why or why not?

I sympathized with her at first because she was with child and seemed like she needed help but when she started feeding the officers the murder weapon and giggling my sympathies lessened because at that point she seemed more like an evil criminal.
