7points- will brainliest! just review my paragraphs and say what you think.

i think that confederate statues should not be removed. many people would argue right off the bat that the statues are racist, and they are, but that’s not enough of a reason to just go ahead and remove them. maybe there’s more to the statues than what meets the eye. sure, they seem racist, but our history is full of racism, and we must accept that in order to understand it. people need to learn about the past for lots of reasons, one of which is so that it is not repeated. removing the statues is like telling everyone that that part of history never happened. showing our past as a good-verse-bad battle is incorrect and doesn’t teach us anything. we need to learn what each side was thinking, what they wanted. otherwise, in the future, we will not realize it when we repeat what has happened in the past.
now, i will say that the statue cannot stand alone. what i mean by that is that alone, the statue is racist and supports white supremacy. so, there must be signs by the statue. on one hand, they can’t simply say “this statue suggests that public places belong to white people” because that would definitely make some people uncomfortable. on the other hand, you can’t have a long description of the civil war and each and every little detail anyone could need to know, because then no one will read it. i don’t even read signs that consist of a few paragraphs. these signs would have to be short and factual. in summation, i think that the confederate statues should stay to teach people about our past well into the future.
