There are multiple differences in our marriages than marriages hundreds of years ago. The first difference that is a value is that people used to get married at a really young age. In the text it said Juliet was 13, almost 14 and allowed to get married. I'm assuming Romeo wasn't much older than well. Nowadays we tend to get married in our twenties, because I have never me anybody who has been married under 20. Another difference is that nowadays we get to choose who we can marry, but that wasn't the case back then. Even thought Juliet's parents thought she was mature enough to get married at 13, they felt they had the responsibility to choose who she marries. Juliet ends up not listening to her parents, and chooses she will marry Romeo.
