How does dystopian fiction present the power of fear

Dystopian, unlike its opposite term ‘utopian’ is a term here which describes the future. However, a dystopian future would be one that is dehumanising or unpleasant. Common themes of dystopia would be government control, technology or environmental damage. Take Ernest cline’s novel ‘ready player one’ for instance, It is a dangerous world where many people suffer and live in misery and fear. The only thing keeping them sane is a interactive video game. This type of future presents fear. A future where no one wants to live there.
