Super ! what should my conclusion sentence be? for my project, "analyze a formal essay", i chose to read an article, "polluted waterways fuel drug resistance in bacteria" by carolyn wilke. there are three reasons why this article is considered a formal essay. first, it focuses on one topic presented in the thesis statement and does not stray from the topic at any point. second, the article strictly uses third-person pronouns, it does not at any point use first or second person pronouns. third of all, the author does not present any emotion or personal opinion. the essay presents facts and ideas with critical evaluation, arguing a point and analyzing it in detail. it is clear at the beginning of the article that the author's goal is to explain and inform. the article starts of with its thesis statement stating “in a massive survey of rivers across 72 countries, researchers found antibiotics at 66 percent of 711 sites sampled. many of the most drug-polluted waterways were in asia and africa, where there hadn’t been much data until now.” it then continues to explain further the effects this has on the public and what this could mean in the future.
