When I arrived at my home, I saw an unfamiliar sight... the door was agar and the windows were opened. How is that possible? I asked myself. Father always locks himself in his room and hardly ever comes out. And Nathalie should be at the office right now. Could it be... No. It can’t be. She hasn’t visited since. Since I was a kid. I crept into the house through the back gate hoping to reach the comfort my room provided. “Audrey. It’s been too long. How are you?” I felt my back stiffen. “Mother. You’re back.” It wasn’t a question. No, it was a statement. “Why yes of course, tho I did expected a warmer welcome. And my you’ve grown.” I felt a swell of anger deep within me. How could you have known? You never visited, you left me alone with your shell of a husband. I wanted to blurt out. However, I schooled my facial expression into one of polite boredom. “I’m just tired, please excuse me Mother,I’ll see to it that you have a comfortable room to rest after your long journey. Oh. Does Father know you’re back?” I ended off innocent and turned my back towards her. But not before I saw her heated glare fixated at me. Ah Ha! There it was. The anger that drove us all away, it had finally reared it’s ugly head.
