Transition words (first, next, then, last) provide connections from one sentence to another as well as one paragraph to another.

A thesis statement usually appears in the middle to end of an introductory paragraph to give the summary of the main point or claim of the essay.

Commas are punctuation marks used to spearate independt clauses from coordinating conjuctions or in a list.

Empty words only serve a grammatical function and no meaning themselves (example: to)
